Nolan was 6 weeks old yesterday. He is getting so alert! He really responds to outside stimuli. And such a personality! It seems to me he wants to see the world and take in everything he can that’s new and different and be independent…but he doesn’t want to be independent alone…hence, he wants his mommy to carry him around and show him everything. :)-

Or Nolan did anyway. Nolan was getting hungry and I was trying to just turn in some overdue library books and re-check out one book for my hubby before going to the car to feed him (Nolan, not Ben). I was waiting outside since he was crying and watching the library line till there was no line- of course there was a woman who was taking forever. Finally the moment seemed right- the last person in line was being serviced and Nolan had quieted temporarily. I dashed in. He was quiet for a few moments before breaking out into another crying speal and I apologetically told the lady behind the counter that I was sorry and could I just re-check out this one book. I felt so bad of course since my school days engrained the importance of quiet in the library- and believe me- his voice had great surround-sound with the acoustics in that library with its high ceilings. The woman just said, “oh don’t even worry about it- I have kids- I totally understand how it is…” That was so nice…then we retreated to the car where Nolan had a full meal. Taking care of a baby really takes strategy. He wants to eat just about every single hour (not really an exaggeration folks), and of course he eats for 45-60 minutes each time, which if you do the math leaves at most 15 minutes of time in between for me to do something. But I’m doin’ it! I figure he’s making to be 6’6” or something and wants to make sure he’s getting his nutrition off to the right start to ensure he reaches his full height.
