suit-2He was in good form as we were on our way to the meeting.

I wanted to get a few shots of him in the new suit I made him, before he grows out of it or destroys it somehow with dried cheese pieces or vitamin c water.

Sigh…oh the cuteness of it all

Let’s just be honest- I would never ever trade my son- in fact I’m GLAD now that I have my dear rough-and-tumble-but-still-lovy-Nolan-boy instead of a girl.  Nolan is so fun!  He likes to wrestle and cuddle- he’ll be able to hike beside me when he gets older (there’s always that scary chance that a girl would have turned out missy-prissy which I would have had a hard time adjusting to)  BUT, there’s no way around it- girl clothes are simply to-die-for-cuter.  My friend’s baby shower for Baby Vanessa is tomorrow and on a whim I decided to try making a baby dress.  I for the most part shy away from sewing clothes- they seem intimidating to me, but I went for it because I was feeling good and wanting to try something new.  I’m so happy with how it came out!!!  I’m practically giddy.  What fun.  So much darlingness.  The pattern was free from made by Rae, a great craft blog I frequent.  I made a little felt ladybug for the apron because that’s Baby Vanessa’s room theme. The fabrics out these days are so vibrant and fun too, you really can’t go wrong unless you sew the arm hole openings shut or something.  I’ve never made a ruffle and it turned out to be way easier than I had imagined.  Now I want to make a million more- to put on the bottom of Nolan’s pants…haha just kidding.

Blanket in the Garden

July 17th, 2010 by Overallgirl

Well- it’s official guys.  I’m starting my own etsy shop like many, er, most of the crafters in the blogosphere.  My official etsy shop is http://www.etsy.com/shop/overallgirl.  I only listed one item at the  moment because I’m still getting set up- but in the next few weeks you should see somewhere between 30-60 items appear, so check back!

One of the things I have found frustrating about many of the photos on etsy while looking for baby blankets is that few listings ever show an image of the whole blanket.  I like to see the whole thing.  It’s hard to buy when we already can’t see it in person, but then when we can’t even see the whole thing it’s a lot harder to plunk out the cash (a phrase from my mom).  So it’s really important to me in my new etsy shop for people always to get a glimpse of the entire item that I’m selling…as I was thinking about how to go about doing that in the most flattering way, I scanned my front garden and saw the trellis my darling hubby built for the tomatoes this year….those tomatoes will have to wait to grow any taller for a bit.
