Nolan and a New Buddy

July 29th, 2012 by Busy Mommy

The desire to find Nolan more buddies to start hanging out with led me to meeting my own new friend as well.

At the risk of sounding like that total 1950’s housewife (well I am a housewife or was that a home engineer and manager? Either way, I’m proud of what I do!), when we realized suddenly that we both use the exact same soap-based products from a special company based in Oakland, we knew we had some similarities in thought process.  Before we ever met, concerns over the eczema that both our sons were dealing with led us  each to our research online to a certain website written by a woman who cured her son’s eczema by switching from detergent based products to soap based products.  Well it didn’t cure my son’s eczema, but it’s still healthier to use, and just goes to show we are both on the same wavelength.  Oh that and the fact that she’s a Laura Ingalls book lover, which of course I can no longer even count how many times I’ve read those books.

Gideon and Nolan, literally only a month apart in age, have been really having a fun time at our recent outings- this most recent one was Little Farm in Tilden Regional Park.  I can’t believe I’ve never been there all these years!  It’s an awesome place!  I can’t wait to take Ben back there.

Of course, the boys knew what was best to do at a place like this… Now if only I’d gotten the “play with trains in mud puddle” photo.

2 Little Monkeys Jumpin’ On the Bed

July 29th, 2012 by Busy Mommy

One fell off and bumped his head.  Then one jumped off and bumped his head.  Then the other one got back on the bed and jumped off again.  Then the other one climbed back up and slide back off the bed.  And more fun like that.

1st Semi-Sleepover

July 29th, 2012 by Busy Mommy

After some stories in bed, it was about 9:30, and I hoped they would both go to sleep- wasn’t sure since I’ve never tried putting two boys to sleep at the same time and in the same bed before!  It was a fun experiment that worked!  Tyler fell asleep pretty much without a peep.  Nolan was so excited to have another buddy to hang out with in bed that I could hear him jabbering away in the room.  I went in a few times reminding him it was time to be quiet and time to go to sleep.  Several goodnight kisses later, I figured he would listen.

Suddenly I heard Nolan’s voice louder than before and when I went in the room to check on them again, there was Nolan, leaning over a sound asleep Tyler, going “Tyler! Tyler! Wake up! Wake up!”  Nolan just didn’t want the fun to end! :)-  After more “it’s time to sleep” reminders, Nolan finally wound down enough to get used to the new arrangement, and soon enough they were both totally out.

Tylers parents were along not too much later, but it was neat for all of us to see that our two boys could fall asleep in this setting- Tyler without his parents, and Nolan with another little person next to him.

Oh here’s bedtime stories by the way….
