Well- it’s official guys. I’m starting my own etsy shop like many, er, most of the crafters in the blogosphere. My official etsy shop is http://www.etsy.com/shop/overallgirl. I only listed one item at the moment because I’m still getting set up- but in the next few weeks you should see somewhere between 30-60 items appear, so check back!
One of the things I have found frustrating about many of the photos on etsy while looking for baby blankets is that few listings ever show an image of the whole blanket. I like to see the whole thing. It’s hard to buy when we already can’t see it in person, but then when we can’t even see the whole thing it’s a lot harder to plunk out the cash (a phrase from my mom). So it’s really important to me in my new etsy shop for people always to get a glimpse of the entire item that I’m selling…as I was thinking about how to go about doing that in the most flattering way, I scanned my front garden and saw the trellis my darling hubby built for the tomatoes this year….those tomatoes will have to wait to grow any taller for a bit.

6 months ago I owned two sewing machines- my lovely ebay find Viking Husqvarna Quilt Designer and my very first sewing machine, a White Jeans Machine given to me by my mom as a wedding gift kept as a keepsake and backup. I now own twelve. I couldn’t turn down the free Janome 1600p offered to me by my midwife so that made three. I rationalized that it’s sheer ability for speed would make some of my sewing and quilting projects much faster and I would make better use of my time. The other nine….well I’ve got into my head that I may try my hand at teaching quilting classes. I’m hoping to get the very first class started soon- just a trial class really with friends- they get to have a chance to learn how to make a quilt, and I get to practice teaching (poor dear friends…this could prove to be really boring or unintelligible on my part).
NO I didn’t pay for the other 9 machines. Hello- FREECYCLE people! The neat part about the seven machines you see in the photo below is that they come from Tennyson High School- a retiring Home Ec teacher contacted me after seeing my want ad and allowed me to come and rummage around in the attic her classroom- these Brothers are all exactly the same, which will prove wonderful for teaching a group how to use a sewing machine. I just finished spending several hours opening them all up; oiling and de-dusting. They are good to go now, I hope.

Ben doesn’t get a chance just to hold Nolan while he’s sleeping much- he usually only falls asleep nursing and then I put him in his crib. But we were at the park at a graduation party and he had a full afternoon of activity, nursed, and then I was holding him for his nap but starting to get quite numb so I passed him off my hubby and Ben enjoyed the quiet serenity of Nolan not awake….
